2010-11 ECAC-SIDA Executive Board
Commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rudy Keeling announced the hiring of Gordon Morton as the Director of Communications. In his new role, Morton will manage the conference's publications, graphics, web site, media relations, as well as the awards program. Morton's background includes more than 10 years of athletic media relations experience at both Brown University and Dartmouth College. Most recently, he served as the Business Development Manager for Made In Museum. In that role, he found and developed clients in the sport and university markets for the international museum merchandising company. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant Sports Information Director for the Big Green from 2003-2006. During his time at Dartmouth, he served as the primary contact for men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, and sailing, and the secondary contact for football. His writing was honored with an award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in the 2005-06 Fred Stabley Writing Contest. Prior to his tenure at Dartmouth, Morton worked for five years as the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Brown University Sports Foundation. His work there garnered him gold and silver medals from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and an Award of Excellence from the University and College Designers Association (UCDA). He began his career in the sports information office at Brown University. A native of Barrington, R.I., Morton is a 1993 graduate of Brown
University. He has also authored a book on the history of Brown
athletics, entitled Brown University Athletics: From the Bruins to
the Bears, which was published in 2003.
